Christmas at The Galt House Hotel in Louisville Kentucky.

Last night for dinner we visited Cafe Magnolia at The Galt House Hotel.
We arrived around 5:30 and were seated promptly by the window looking out at the river. Our waiter was wonderful! His level of service was reminiscent of a Fine Dining Restaurant! We ordered the Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken and the Florentine Chicken Pasta, both came with a salad. The salad was good, nothing truly spectacular about it, but good! When our food arrived we were shocked to find the Teriyaki Chicken was inedible, it was so salty we could not eat it! Also some pieces of the chicken were shredded, other pieces were cubed, the chicken was not cooked properly. The Florentine Chicken was better but still on the salty side.

When we called our waiter over he immediately apologized and put in a order for the Florentine Chicken and said he would have a manager come over. Fifteen minutes later our waiter came over again to inform us that our new dish would be out soon but that he could not find the manager, he again apologized and said as soon as he found the manager he would send her over. Once our new dish came, the manager finally came over and asked what the problem was. We explained the issue to her, she then replied that she would take the Teriyaki Chicken off our bill then off she went. We ate both dishes of Florentine Chicken but was not completely satisfied. Once we were done with our meal we had to wait another 25 minutes for our bill. So in closing for the restaurant portion of The Galt House Hotel, Cafe Magnolia was very disappointing, but on the bright side our waiter was amazing!

After we finished eating we decided to walk around the hotel to see the Christmas Displays. At The Galt House Hotel they are known for their Christmas Spectacular, they have been featured on several media outlets. We did not have enough time to go through The KaLightoscope Christmas event but we did enjoy walking around the two towers of The Galt House Hotel. There are so many beautiful decorations and lights, the pictures below don’t do justice to the beauty of the Hotel and Christmas decorations. They do have several other restaurants on site. Including the Rivue that is on the 25th floor offering spectacular views of the City. They also have a little coffee shop where you can grab a cup of coffee and sit down in the beautifully decorated atrium and take in all the beautiful hanging lights and displays. If you are ever in the Louisville Kentucky area at Christmas time I highly suggest visiting the Galt House and trying one of the many other restaurants they have.

Salon Effects by Sally Hanson Review

Salon Effects by Sally HansonToday I thought I would bring you a blog post about Nail Effects by Sally Hanson.  Last Christmas I had acrylic nails on and used the product. It worked beautifully with the acrylics on so I decided I would try it on my natural nails.

The packaging was quite nice, really pulls you into the product. I bought this at Ulta on sale, but you can find it just about anywhere!

As you can see the box has all of the supplies you need except for your favorite nail polish remover. The instructions where fairly clear, my only issue with the product is, it is quite hard to get the nail foil off of its backing.

Here I have placed the foil on my finger and am getting ready to file off the excess.

Here is the finished hand. My overall rating would be a 7. I would use the product again but some improvements could be made such as a different source of backing for the nail foils, as well as the adhesive on the foils. Below is a picture of my nails after a weeks time. I think they held up fairly well, I do a lot of hand washing!

Throw Back Thursday

Welcome to my very first Throw Back Thursday!

#TBT with Grandma

I thought I would kick this party off with a throw back to my Great Grandma and I at Christmas time.  Great Grandma absolutely loved Christmas she always made it so special and memorable!

Every year when we lived in Florida my family would travel back to Ohio to visit family the week of Thanksgiving. As a child growing up in Florida the thought of snow was always a wonderful one, every year for a month before we would go back to Ohio I would pray for snow. Most years we would get a small amount of snow while we were there, but this particular year was a bit different.

We had went to visit my Great Grandma up in Cleveland Heights. Grandma lived in a small flat with her son, Uncle David. I always loved visiting her, her little flat was always cozy and warmly decorated with Christmas and full of love! From when I was a small child whenever we were together you would find me right next to Grandma.

After a full day of celebrating with family we checked the weather before we headed back to where we were staying, the weather report said there was going to be a blizzard but of course my Dad thought we could make it back to his parents house before the storm hit. We said our goodbyes to Grandma and Uncle David and headed out to brave the snow.

I of course loved the snow, I thought my what a adventure!  I loved feeling the snowflakes on my face! We drove maybe a mile up the road, the roads were a mess! Ice underneath all of the snow. The blizzard was coming much faster then expected! There was a big hill we had to go up and our Florida car would not do it, my Dad tried and tried with no avail. We decided that it would be best to turn around and go back to Grandma’s Flat.  Grandma welcomed us back with open arms. Since we had not planned on spending the night we had no pajamas, nothing! Grandma gave me one of her sweaters to sleep in as well as leg warmers, which I still have packed away in a box! It was quite the adventure, I got to sleep on the couch then the next morning Grandma made us warm oatmeal for breakfast, then we played checkers and grandma always let me win, such warm wonderful memories were made that I will cherish! We checked the weather the next morning, they had worked all through the night to clear the roads.  We in turn headed back to my Dad’s parents house.

Grandma has passed on now and she is rejoicing in Heaven with Grandpa and many others who have gone on before us.  We miss  her tremendously but we know that one day we will see her again and this thought I hold in my heart.  I am very Thankful for the time I did get to spend with her, these are memories I will cherish in my heart forever!

All of the sparkle, the warmth, spending time together as a family and the traditions. Baking and Cooking to be done, so much to look forward to!

This is the earliest we have ever decorated but we figured since we will be traveling so much we want to be able to enjoy it for as long as possible!

We started the weekend out with a new tradition, Eggnog French toast, made by Dad. Eggnog French Toast
