Christmas Place Settings

Christmas Place Setting via LashesandDashesAt our House my Mom always makes Christmas so special with every detail covered. One of the things she likes to do is make beautiful place settings for our table. This year she asked for my help with some new ideas. Below are three ideas for the Place Settings, I have included two variations for each Setting. When my Mom sets the table for a special occasion she includes a favor for our Guests, just a little extra something special.

For this place setting you will need 1 Dinner Plate, 1 Bread Plate, 1 Cloth Napkin folded into a Square, Gold Silverware, 2 Hershey Kisses still wrapped, 1 Baby Carrot, 5 Chocolate Chips in Christmas Colors, 1 Piece of Red Fabric for Scarf.

I saw a Place Setting Similar to this on Pinterest and decided to do my own take on it.

This Place setting is the same as above but with one small adjustment. For this place setting you will need 1 Dinner Plate, 1 Bread Plate, 1 Cloth Napkin folded into a Square, Gold Silverware, 2 Hershey Kisses unwrapped, 1 Baby Carrot, 6 Chocolate Chips in Christmas Colors, 1 Piece of Red Fabric for Scarf.

The variation for this setting is a very simple one, just unwrap the Hershey Kisses.

For this Place Setting you will need: 1 Bread Plate, 1 Dinner Plate, 1 Christmas Glass, 1 Place Mat in Shape of Christmas Ornament, 1 Cloth Napkin in Shape of Christmas Tree, Silverware

Before this year I had never seen a napkin folded into a tree, it is the hottest trend for Place Settings this year. I will post the how to video below.

Same as above except we put Hershey Kisses in the Folds of the Napkin

The Hershey Kisses would be our Favor on this Place Setting.

For this Setting you will need: 1 Charger Plate, 1 Dinner Plate, 1 Bread Plate, 1 Petit Four, Gold Silverware, 1 Christmas Goblet, 1 Napkin folded into a Fan 1 Christmas Place Mat.

The Petit Four is from our favorite Bakery in Louisville Heitzman Traditional Bakery and Deli, before we headed back home we picked up several Petit Fours for Christmas and froze them so they would be fresh.  You could also use a favorite cookie or other yummy goody of your choice.

From Our Table to Your Table we wish you the Merrist of Christmas!

Christmas at The Galt House Hotel in Louisville Kentucky.

Last night for dinner we visited Cafe Magnolia at The Galt House Hotel.
We arrived around 5:30 and were seated promptly by the window looking out at the river. Our waiter was wonderful! His level of service was reminiscent of a Fine Dining Restaurant! We ordered the Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken and the Florentine Chicken Pasta, both came with a salad. The salad was good, nothing truly spectacular about it, but good! When our food arrived we were shocked to find the Teriyaki Chicken was inedible, it was so salty we could not eat it! Also some pieces of the chicken were shredded, other pieces were cubed, the chicken was not cooked properly. The Florentine Chicken was better but still on the salty side.

When we called our waiter over he immediately apologized and put in a order for the Florentine Chicken and said he would have a manager come over. Fifteen minutes later our waiter came over again to inform us that our new dish would be out soon but that he could not find the manager, he again apologized and said as soon as he found the manager he would send her over. Once our new dish came, the manager finally came over and asked what the problem was. We explained the issue to her, she then replied that she would take the Teriyaki Chicken off our bill then off she went. We ate both dishes of Florentine Chicken but was not completely satisfied. Once we were done with our meal we had to wait another 25 minutes for our bill. So in closing for the restaurant portion of The Galt House Hotel, Cafe Magnolia was very disappointing, but on the bright side our waiter was amazing!

After we finished eating we decided to walk around the hotel to see the Christmas Displays. At The Galt House Hotel they are known for their Christmas Spectacular, they have been featured on several media outlets. We did not have enough time to go through The KaLightoscope Christmas event but we did enjoy walking around the two towers of The Galt House Hotel. There are so many beautiful decorations and lights, the pictures below don’t do justice to the beauty of the Hotel and Christmas decorations. They do have several other restaurants on site. Including the Rivue that is on the 25th floor offering spectacular views of the City. They also have a little coffee shop where you can grab a cup of coffee and sit down in the beautifully decorated atrium and take in all the beautiful hanging lights and displays. If you are ever in the Louisville Kentucky area at Christmas time I highly suggest visiting the Galt House and trying one of the many other restaurants they have.

Tutorial for keeping a Beanie on Your Head!

How to Keep a Beanie on via LashesandDashesI saw the below tutorial on Pinterest and decided to try it for my self!

beanie (1)

The only supplies you will need for this project are:
A beanie
One hair comb
Hot glue

Hat fix via LashesandDashes

Place the comb right at the base of the stitching on the inside of the beanie.

Now place a strip of hot glue on the base of the hair comb, then place the comb on the base of stitching. Hold the comb on the base of the stitching for 20 seconds while the hot glue dries. After I had let the hat sit for a couple minutes I tried the hat on, the comb did not feel as secure as I would have liked!
I pulled the comb up off the the hat with the base of the comb still attached to the hat. Then I placed another line of glue on the comb where the prongs of the comb begin. After this the comb was not going anywhere!

I highly recommend using this tutorial on all of your knit beanies!
