Thanksgiving Crepes via LashesandDashesEvery year for Christmas for as long as I can remember we have had  Crepes for breakfast on Christmas morning, it has become one of my  favorite traditions! Over the past couple years we have come to the  realization that this tradition is to good to be kept for only Christmas,  last year we had the Crepes on New Years Day as well. This year we  decided to make them on Thanksgiving. This tradition is one I  plan on continuing when I have my own family. The crepes are super easy to make, which is one of the reasons we love them! Also they  look just as wonderful as they taste! Feel free to fill the crepes with  what ever you would like, below I have listed some ideas.

Thanksgiving Crepes via LashesandDashes

Without any further adieu here is the recipe for my families crepes.

Crepes

Ingredients

1/2 tsp salt

1 TBL sugar

1 tsp Vanilla

3 eggs

1 cup half and half

1/2 cup skim milk

2  TBS melted butter

1 cup all purpose flour

1 TBS butter

Some Ideads for the Filling for the Crepes

Your favorite jam

Whipped Cream

Powdered Sugar

Nutella

Fresh Fruit

Combine the salt, sugar, eggs, milk, butter and vanilla in a blender until well mixed. Add in 1/2 a cup of flour at a time and blend until smooth. Let the batter chill in the fridge for at least half an hour. When you are ready to cook blend the batter again so that it is smooth. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat, place a small amount of butter in the hot skillet, let it melt. Pour the batter into the middle of the pan, pour enough batter to almost cover the bottom of the skillet, Move the pan around just slightly to bring the batter to the edges of the pan. Once the crepes has bubbles flip it with a plastic spatula. Once the crepe is brown on both sides take it out of the pan and place it on a warm plate. Continue the above steps until you have no batter left. Once all of the Crepes are cooked you can begin filling them with your favorite fillings.  We place all of the fillings on the table so everyone can choose what they would like.

Enjoy!

Makeup Brush Cleaner

Makeup Brush Cleaner via LashesandDashesEvery week I clean my make up brushes with this formula. It has worked great for me! Especially after I get back from a trip I always do a deep clean of my brushes, when at home every other day I clean my brushes with ELF makeup brush cleaner.

I rarely take the ELF cleaner with me on trip for the simple reason of it does not have a cap on the spray nozzle, if memory serves me correctly I do not think the cleaner came with a cap. Other then that hold back I absolutely love the ELF cleaner, I found mine at Target but you can also purchase the cleaner from their website, the link to their website is in the picture of the ELF cleaner.

As you can see my make up brushes are very dirty and in need of a good clean!

Makeup Cleaner via LashesandDashes

Put 2 TBS Dawn Dish Soap and 2 TBS Olive Oil in a small container. When you are ready to clean the brushes put a dash of water in the container.

Start swishing the brush around in the mixture, you will see the dirt start to lift away from the brush. Continue cleaning the brush until the mixture is the color of your makeup. I like to rinse the brush in hot water, if make up continues to run off of the brush I will do another cleaning in the mixture.

Here you can see how dirty the mixture is from all of the dirt, grime, and makeup that was in the brushes. After you have finished cleaning the brushes in the mixture rinse them off in hot running water.

To dry the brushes I used my towel bar and a hair band to keep the brushes upside down, I leave them there over night to dry.

Salon Effects by Sally Hanson Review

Salon Effects by Sally HansonToday I thought I would bring you a blog post about Nail Effects by Sally Hanson.  Last Christmas I had acrylic nails on and used the product. It worked beautifully with the acrylics on so I decided I would try it on my natural nails.

The packaging was quite nice, really pulls you into the product. I bought this at Ulta on sale, but you can find it just about anywhere!

As you can see the box has all of the supplies you need except for your favorite nail polish remover. The instructions where fairly clear, my only issue with the product is, it is quite hard to get the nail foil off of its backing.

Salon Effects via LashesandDashes

Here I have placed the foil on my finger and am getting ready to file off the excess.

Here is the finished hand. My overall rating would be a 7. I would use the product again but some improvements could be made such as a different source of backing for the nail foils, as well as the adhesive on the foils. Below is a picture of my nails after a weeks time. I think they held up fairly well, I do a lot of hand washing!

Tutorial for keeping a Beanie on Your Head!

How to Keep a Beanie on via LashesandDashesI saw the below tutorial on Pinterest and decided to try it for my self!

beanie (1)

The only supplies you will need for this project are:
A beanie
One hair comb
Hot glue

Hat fix via LashesandDashes

Place the comb right at the base of the stitching on the inside of the beanie.

Now place a strip of hot glue on the base of the hair comb, then place the comb on the base of stitching. Hold the comb on the base of the stitching for 20 seconds while the hot glue dries. After I had let the hat sit for a couple minutes I tried the hat on, the comb did not feel as secure as I would have liked!
I pulled the comb up off the the hat with the base of the comb still attached to the hat. Then I placed another line of glue on the comb where the prongs of the comb begin. After this the comb was not going anywhere!

I highly recommend using this tutorial on all of your knit beanies!

Who is your favorite character of all time?

Who is your favorite character of all time?

TardisNot a hard question, actually when I saw this on the prompt list I was quite excited!!

My favorite character of all time would be dun dun dun The Doctor from Doctor Who. A little background on the show before we move on to the character.

Doctor Who is a British Science Fiction TV Show on BBC. The show is in its 50 year Anniversary. Doctor Who depicts the adventures of a Time Lord—a time-travelling humanoid alien known as the Doctor. He explores the universe in his TARDIS (acronym: Time and Relative Dimension in Space), a sentient time-travelling space ship. Its exterior appears as a blue British police box, which was a common sight in Britain in 1963 when the series first aired.

Eleven actors have headlined the series as the Doctor. The transition from one actor to another is written into the plot of the show as regeneration, a life process of Time Lords through which the character of the Doctor takes on a new body and, to some extent, new personality, which occurs after sustaining injury which would be fatal to most other species.

Now that you know more about the show lets move onto the Character yay!

The Ninth Doctor

I first started watching Doctor Who at Doctor Number 9, I loved this incarnation of the Doctor: Sarcastic, Rough, Picks a fight with everyone but with the help of his Companion Rose Tyler comes out of his shell just in time to regenerate. Even though Nine was only part of Doctor Who for one Series I think he was . The pairing of Rose and Nine was one of the best from the entire show! Rose brought out the best in Nine who was hardened by the Time War, she taught him to laugh and loosen up.

char_tenthdoctorWhen we meet Doctor Number 10,  He has just gone through a rough regeneration, he has to figure out yet again Who he is. Rose and 10 are my all time favorite One True Paring or OTP. Tens characteristics where almost the opposite of Nines. There are so many components to what draws me to the Doctor, the humor, the adventure, His loyalty to his friends, how in-depth the character is, at one moment he is laughing making jokes the next he is all business and you may just get to see the wrath of a Timelord. The Doctor who showed this the most was Ten, especially after he lost Rose he was a broken man just trying to make it through life. The last several episodes in Series 4, Ten unravels almost to the point of no return. To see the despair, the anger the fear in not wanting to die, was truly heartbreaking! To see the man Who had known such love and such pain be brought to tears shows what a complex character the Doctor is. When Ten regenerates into Doctor Number Eleven elevenWe are met with yet another diverse character. Eleven appears much like a child on the surface but underneath the facade is a deeply hurt man who can have quite a temper. With Eleven we see the affects of the ten past regenerations. With Eleven the Doctors story blossoms into a complex story line. We meet new Companions, new Villains and new emotions with Eleven. Eleven is shrouded in mystery as well as His Companions. With Elevens story line there has been mysteries that have lasted three Series, as Elevens time comes to an end I am excited to see how the Character and story  will develop with Doctor Number Twelve. I have not seen Twelve in action yet. We only have under two months to wait to find out. In closing what draws me to the Doctor is not His looks as they change quite frequently, not the adventure, or the story line but the humanity of the Character; all the good, the sad, and the emotion. When someone asks me which Doctor is my favorite I have to answer all of the new Doctors, 9 though 11. They are all the same character but each have their own personalities, their own way of reacting to events, each one has something different that makes them tick.

If you found one million dollars what would you do with the money?

Catching up on the NaBloPoMo November 1 post

Friday, November 1, 2013 1 million
If you found one million dollars in the morning and had to spend it by nightfall, what would you do with the money?

I suppose it depends on how you look at it, If I had to spend the money all in one day I think I would be much more selfish. First I would pay off all of my parents debt then buy in full, a house on the beach in Perdido Key, Fl. Then take them out for a very expensive dinner and buy them whatever they wanted. I would then go on a shopping spree in Von Maur (weird choice I know). I would buy the Range Rover I have had my eye on for years. Set up a two week vacation to Isle of Palms, Sc. Pay for a trip to NYC and shopping  for the whole family.

If I could set up funds the following is what I would do. It is always interesting if you truly pay attention to your surroundings you see people struggling with so much pain whether it be job loss, sickness, family troubles, or something else completely!  I would love to spend the money on those people! A couple who is just married and struggling, I would buy them everything they need to make their house a home. A family with a new baby who is overwhelmed, I would give them a set date night with a babysitter for a year. The couple who has tried to have children for years the money to adopt children. The single parent who is struggling to put food on their families table a gift card to Publix to buy food for a year. The couple who’s last child just went off to college a getaway to Florida. The grandparents who are having a hard time adjusting to retirement the money to visit their grandchildren. The nice neighbor lady who just lost her husband to a heart attack something of her husbands made into a memorial.

I have come to the conclusion that though 1 million dollars is a lot of money all you really need in life is to have a compassionate heart and open eyes to the world around you.

Let me know in the comments what you would do with One Million Dollars!
