We found this breakfast hub quite by happenstance, Wild Eggs is in the St. Matthews neighborhood of Louisville, Ky. They also have two other locations and are building a location downtown.
With the temperatures below freezing we all ordered hot drinks, my personal favorite drink is their Chamomile Citrus tea, I have never had a tea bag that has whole spices and seeds in it. The tea has wonderful flavor! They also grind their own coffee beans and squeeze fresh orange juice.
Now for their food, the best part!
My first time at Wild Eggs I had a two egg omelet with home fries and homemade sourdough toast. We have also had their over medium eggs, homemade biscuits, French Toast with a wonderful crunch on the outside, and a delicious buttermilk pancake.
We had a lovely chat with Shane, who is one of the owners. He is very knowledgeable in the food industry! He shared that they use only the highest ingredients, double A rating on their eggs. Before the owners started Wild Eggs they owned a fine dinning restaurant, after selling the upscale restaurant they decided to bring the same quality of food and service to breakfast. At Wild Eggs it is the extra touches that make a world of difference, folded cloth napkins, freshly ground coffee and a water carafe with fresh lemons at the table along with warm syrup. Huge portion sizes at very reasonably prices! The service is exceptional our server was very knowledgeable about the whole menu and was quick to answer any questions. She checked back to make sure we were happy! It is evident they take much pride in their restaurant, it was sparkling clean!
It is very tastefully decorated and they keep with the Egg theme through out the whole restaurant including a huge display of Wild eggs.
If in Louisville you must visit Wild Eggs and treat yourself to a fantastic fresh “home-cooked” breakfast, you won’t be disappointed!
